Infrastructure project financing advice

Greengate advises sponsors, financial institutions, governments and investors on the financing of infrastructure projects globally, including some of the largest and most complex project financings.

A successful transaction requires a financing structure and risk profile that is consistent with both the lender’s credit standards and the sponsor’s commercial and financial objectives – a combination that must be achieved in a dynamic context involving complex assets, contractual arrangements, governmental objectives and markets.

Our experience advising clients on all sides of transactions provides us with the insight, creativity and practical experience to effectively achieve our client’s objectives within this context.

We work with project developers and sponsors to formulate a bankable commercial structure and financing plan, and assist in negotiating and executing the optimal capital structure. We often become involved early in project development and continue to work with the client through to a successful financial closing.

We assist financing institutions, including commercial lenders and government financing agencies, in the evaluation and negotiation of large project finance loan transactions. Greengate has a distinguished record of successful engagements involving export credit agencies, multilateral banks and other national and international public sector lenders and guarantors.

Our skills and experience are also applied to restructuring and value recovery of distressed project debt. We have worked with lender syndicates to maximize recovery values for defaulted projects, and with distressed borrowers in default or near-default scenarios.

Greengate works with state-owned companies and other public sector entities to assess the economic and financial viability of developing strategically significant, major infrastructure projects.
